Omoda X Off-Road Crossover Revealed With 200 mm Ground Clearance and Three Powertrain Options

Omoda has unveiled a new off-road crossover called the Omoda X. The vehicle made its debut at the Chery group summit in the Chinese city of Wuhu. Visually, the Chinese development evokes direct associations with the Russian Lada 4×4 Vision concept car, which was shown by AvtoVAZ in 2018 but never reached the production line.

The design of the Omoda X is executed within the framework of the new signature Crossvolution concept, which combines sporty body contours with rugged off-road aesthetics. The resemblance to the eight-year-old Russian prototype is evident in its characteristic angular and chiseled profile, large wheel arches with protective plastic cladding, and aggressive lighting design.

Unlike the Lada 4×4 Vision concept, which remained solely a show mock-up with X-shaped styling, the Omoda X project is being prepared for series production. The model is scheduled to enter global markets no later than 2027.

The developers have already revealed the main dimensions and off-road specifications of the upcoming vehicle. The body length of the Omoda X is 4,654 mm, the width is 1,920 mm, the height is 1,702 mm, and the wheelbase is 2,700 mm. The crossover's ground clearance reaches 200 mm, while the vehicle is capable of wading through water obstacles up to 700 mm deep.

The Omoda X powertrain lineup will include three options for buyers to choose from: a battery electric version (BEV), a plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and a conventional hybrid setup (HEV).
