New 2027 Polestar 4 SUV Revealed

Polestar has officially unveiled the 2027 Polestar 4 SUV, a new version of the electric model that adopts a more practical wagon-like silhouette. Unlike the standard Polestar 4 coupe-sedan, the new SUV variant features a taller rear section with a traditional heated rear glass window and a rear wiper with a built-in washer hidden discreetly beneath the rear roof spoiler. Because of the rear window, a conventional rearview mirror is standard, though a digital camera mirror remains available as an option neatly integrated into the roof spoiler edge rather than the shark-fin antenna area.

In terms of dimensions, the Polestar 4 SUV maintains the same length of 190.5 inches (4,840 mm) and width of 84.2 inches (2,139 mm) as the coupe. However, the height grows by nearly 0.9 inches (22 mm) to 61.2 inches (1,556 mm), expanding practicality. Cargo capacity expands to 655 liters (23.1 cubic feet) loaded to the roof with the rear seats in place (up by 129 liters or 4.6 cu ft over the coupe) and 530 liters (18.7 cu ft) loaded to the seatbacks (a 30-liter / 1.1 cu ft increase). The front trunk retains its 15-liter (0.5 cu ft) capacity. Additional exterior and interior updates include standard roof rails, an electrochromic glass roof adjustable via the center touchscreen, new wheels and tires, and fresh paint options including matte finishes.

The model is offered with two powertrain choices, both equipped with a 100-kWh lithium-ion battery. The base single-motor rear-wheel-drive version produces 268 hp and 253 lb-ft (343 Nm) of torque, accelerating from 0 to 62 mph (100 km/h) in 7.3 seconds with an estimated WLTP range of 391 miles (630 km). The dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant delivers 544 hp and 506 lb-ft (686 Nm), hitting 62 mph in 3.9 seconds with a 373-mile (600 km) WLTP range. Both top out at an electronically limited 124 mph (200 km/h). DC fast charging supports up to 200 kW, enabling a 10 to 80 percent charge in approximately 30 minutes. The vehicle also features bidirectional Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging up to 3.3 kW and a dedicated Camp mode.

Despite earlier plans announced by Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller to bring the 4 SUV to North America, the Geely-owned brand will not sell the 2027 model in the United States due to the U.S. Connected Vehicles Rule restricting hardware and software linked to China or Russia, prompting Polestar's exit from the US market.
