Jeep Avenger Refresh Adds a Revised Gasoline Motor and Retains Its Stick Shift
Jeep has given the Avenger a mid-life update, and the compact SUV now arrives with a broader list of improvements aimed at keeping it competitive in Europe and other global markets. The model also continues to serve as the brand’s smallest offering after the Renegade was phased out.
On the outside, the revised Avenger features reshaped bumpers, newly available Forest and Bamboo paint choices, and optional contrast-black roof treatment. The 17- and 18-inch wheels have also been redesigned, now wearing a fresh center cap with a Willys-inspired graphic.
Inside, Jeep has focused on making the cabin feel more upscale. The door trims use softer-touch materials, while the lower dashboard now includes a padded insert. Higher trims benefit from updated cloth and vinyl upholstery, and the 4xe version gets new washable green seat fabric designed for tougher use.
To mark Jeep’s 85th anniversary, the Avenger is also gaining a limited special edition. This version adds gold exterior accents, a tartan hood graphic, unique badges, and illuminated grille detailing. Some upper trim levels can also be ordered with the backlit seven-slot grille.
More Equipment and a New Base Engine
The 2027 Avenger also brings extra technology, including matrix LED headlights and a front camera system that supports a 360-degree view. The biggest change, though, is the introduction of Stellantis’ new turbocharged 1.2-liter gasoline engine.
This three-cylinder unit replaces the older wet-belt setup with a timing chain, a change meant to improve long-term durability and reduce oil-related concerns. Jeep says the engine has also been revised with new internal components to strengthen reliability and control oil use. Output is rated at 100 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque, with power delivered to the front wheels through a six-speed manual transmission.
Other powertrain choices remain in the lineup as well. The mild-hybrid model produces 108 hp and uses a six-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the plug-in hybrid combines a rear electric motor with all-wheel drive and 143 hp in total.
For buyers ready to go fully electric, the Avenger EV continues as the range-topping option. It produces 154 hp, uses a 54-kWh battery, and offers up to 249 miles of WLTP range, along with DC fast-charging capability of up to 100 kW.
Jeep has already opened orders for the Polish-built Avenger, with customer deliveries set to start later this year.
