Acura to Expand Lineup From Four to Six Models by the End of the Decade

Acura is preparing a major expansion of its product portfolio as it aims to reach an annual sales target of 200,000 vehicles in the United States by the end of the decade. According to a report from Automotive News, the Japanese luxury brand plans to grow its lineup from four vehicles to six through a series of all-new and refreshed models. During a recent meeting with dealers in Las Vegas, the company previewed several upcoming products, including an all-new large SUV, a rugged model based on the Honda Passport, and multiple special-edition trims.

The automaker has already confirmed two key SUV additions to its range: an "adventure-ready" crossover and an eight-passenger model. The adventure-oriented SUV will share its underlying architecture with the Honda Passport and retain an internal combustion engine, though it will receive distinct exterior styling, including a unique hood design. Acura states that this vehicle will combine outdoor capability with modern, premium design, and it is scheduled to arrive at dealerships in the first half of 2028.

Meanwhile, the upcoming eight-seat SUV is currently in development and will serve as the largest vehicle in Acura's history. Featuring a Range Rover-inspired exterior design, production of this three-row model is expected to begin before the end of the decade. It will reportedly share its platform with the next-generation Acura MDX, an architecture that is also expected to underpin a larger Honda counterpart internally codenamed the Pilot XXL. Once launched, the eight-passenger Acura will compete directly against large luxury SUVs such as the Cadillac Escalade and Lexus TX.

Changes are also coming to Acura's existing models. The current RDX crossover will end production later in 2026 and take a brief hiatus before returning for its next generation as a hybrid. Previewed in a teaser in January, the sleek new RDX will be the first Acura to utilize the company's two-motor hybrid system and will debut a fresh brand design language. In addition, Acura plans to release a limited-production Integra Type S later in 2026, alongside special editions of the ADX and MDX, which will remain the brand's only crossovers on the market in 2027.

Acura's push for higher volume mirrors wider trends in the luxury segment. For comparison, Mercedes-Benz has reportedly targeted 400,000 annual U.S. sales after delivering just over 300,000 vehicles in 2025. Acura recorded 133,433 U.S. sales in 2025, meaning the upcoming lineup expansion will be critical in bridging the gap toward its 200,000-unit goal.
