2026 Honda CR-V Gets Wireless CarPlay as Standard
The Honda CR-V, one of the best-selling models in the US, has finally received a long-awaited feature — standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It comes as part of the 2026 model-year update, in which every CR-V, including the base LX and EX trims, gets a 9-inch infotainment screen.
Honda has also introduced a new TrailSport version, available only with the CR-V hybrid powertrain and aimed at light off-roading. All CR-V models also come with a wireless phone charger. The EX-L, TrailSport, Sport-L and Sport Touring trims add a larger 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster. The top Sport Touring version gets an upgraded infotainment system with Google built in, similar to the systems in other high-end Honda models. Most versions get new 18-inch wheels; the TrailSport has its own exclusive design, and the Sport Touring rides on 19-inch wheels.
TrailSport Highlights
The TrailSport comes with 235/60R18 Continental All-Terrain tires and unique exterior and interior details. Honda has refined the all-wheel-drive system in the hybrid models to improve off-road ability by mimicking a locking differential. Below 9 mph, if the wheels on one axle spin at different speeds, the system adjusts torque distribution and uses the brakes to even out wheel speed between the two sides of the car.
Popularity of the Hybrids
Adding a TrailSport version was a logical step given the growing popularity of light off-roaders. According to Honda, TrailSport versions already account for more than 20% of Passport, Pilot and Ridgeline sales. Notably, hybrids make up more than 50% of CR-V sales, making it Honda's most popular electrified model. Overall, hybrids account for 30% of the brand's sales, largely thanks to the success of the CR-V.
While the 2026 Honda CR-V updates are not radical, Honda appears to be successfully keeping this hugely popular model appealing.
