Australian Specialists Launch 750 HP V-8 Enhanced Ranger Raptor R

The Ford Ranger Raptor is available in the United States starting at around $57,000. This model features an upgraded suspension system with Fox shocks and is equipped with a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine that delivers 405 horsepower. While the Ranger Raptor itself is an impressive vehicle, enthusiasts in both America and Australia often modify these trucks by swapping in V-8 engines.

In a significant upgrade, Australian company Killa Conversions & Performance has developed the Raptr8 S, a custom Ranger Raptor R that houses a supercharged V-8 engine. This powerhouse is based on a third-generation 5.0-liter Coyote engine enhanced with a Roush supercharger, pushing the total output to 750 horsepower. This surpasses the American F-150 Raptor R, which boasts 720 horsepower from its Predator-derived 5.2-liter engine.

Performance Upgrades

Killa Conversions & Performance unveiled the Raptr8 S through a striking video and a concise announcement on social media. While specific details about all the modifications are not disclosed, it is presumed that the Raptr8 S shares many upgrades with the existing Raptr8 model listed on their website. The standard Raptr8 model itself features a naturally aspirated Coyote V-8 engine producing 460 horsepower. Importantly, the Ranger Raptor's long-travel suspension remains intact, and the stock brakes are maintained, although upgraded brake options are available. Additionally, both the Raptr8 and Raptr8 S are fitted with a reinforced 10-speed automatic transmission to handle the increased power.

Cost Implications

Enhancing a Ranger with a supercharged V-8 engine is a costly endeavor. The conversion by Killa Conversions & Performance is priced at 89,000 Australian dollars, roughly equivalent to $57,000 USD. Despite the hefty price tag, The Drive highlights that this option is more affordable compared to importing high-performance trucks like the F-150 Raptor R, which is not officially available in the Australian market.

When combining the cost of the Ranger Raptor with the Killa Conversions & Performance modifications, the total investment reaches approximately $122,000 USD. Although this is a significant amount, it remains about $110,000 USD less than the price of an imported F-150 Raptor R, offering substantial power enhancements for enthusiasts willing to invest in a Ranger.
