North America Will Not Get A New Ford Escort

The innovated Escort from Ford, will be available in China only.

The producer from America is boasting the new midsize sedan at this year’s Motor Show held in Beijing. The unit will be sold alongside with the current Focus hatchback and the innovated Focus. According to the automaker, the latest Escort is developed specifically to cater for clients from China who need value, interior roominess, sophisticated design and extra safety in a vehicle of the middle size.

The car’s nameplate was first presented to the Chinese customers 4 years ago in December. More than 800,000 cars have been sold and now the company wants to develop a fully new offering based on this success.

Clients will be able to opt from 2 motors: the 1.0-litre EcoBoost unit and the innovated 1.5-litre Ti-VCT unit. Both engines are joined with a new 6-speed manual gearbox or a 6-speed automatic gearbox.
