Two New Recalls from GM

General Motors has confirmed two new recalls.

This time the automaker calls back 96,000 vehicles of the 2009-2010 Hummer H3T and 2006-2010 Hummer H3. There is an issue with a multiple-contact switch module which is in charge of the blower motor speed in the heating, ventilation and conditioning system. The problem is that it can superheat after being operated during long periods of time. This can cause melting of the plastic around the module. In such a way, chances of a fire will be increased.

General Motors assures it is aware of three burns which happened because of this issue. The appropriate details in and around the connector and harness will be replaced at dealerships. Overheating will be prevented.

The second recall is smaller. It affects 50,700 vehicles of the 2015 Sonic and 2014-2015 Chevy Spark. There is a glitch in the infotainment system. The turn-by-turn directions performance can become stuck in vehicles with original stereo units equipped with OnStar. Then the display can go blank. All audio functions will be ceased along with the chimes related to wearing a seatbelt and the key left in main driving switch.

The producer is sure that the radio may turn off and leave the battery to drain. This means that the car will not start.

The infotainment software will be reflashed at dealerships and the problem will be fixed.
