GM Stops The Work Of Its Factories This January

GM is going to stop production on 5 of the American assembly factories this January. Calm down, this will happen only temporarily in order to deal with an oversupply of sedans.

Automotive News informs that the automaker had 86 days’ supply of American inventory as of December 1, up from 84 days in November and 70 days on December 1 last year. According to the producer, its target is to supply 70 days.

Speaking of individual nameplates, it’s the sedans that slow down the sales at General Motors. Supplies balloon up to 170 days (the Corvette), 121 (the Cruze), 177 (Camaro offerings), 199 (the ATS) and 110 days (Cadical CT6 offerings).

The Fairfax (located in Kentucky) and Detroit-Hamtramck (located in Michigan) plants will stop their work for 3 weeks. Meanwhile the Lansing Grand River factory will be closed for 2 weeks. The Bowling Green (located in Kentucky) and Lordstown (located in Ohio) factories will stop their work for 1 week.
