Seat Belt Issue Affected 50K GM's Cars

General Motors confirmed one more recall. It touches 50,043 cars in Canada and America.

The company has to call back the 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 and 2011-2013 Chevrolet Caprice. Their problem is flexible steel cables which join seat belts to the undercarriage. These cables can wear-out and separate during moving of passengers. Moreover, in some cars occupants can sit on the steel cable during entering the vehicles. This can lead to its blending and separating.

Up till now there were no any injuries known as a result of this problem. The American producer says that details which have to be replaced are not available yet. Customers will have an opportunity to change the seat belt tensioner parts and the steel cable for free. The replaced parts will place the tensioner cable out of the way when passengers enter a car. Moreover, General Motors is going to use a cable with higher flexibility on the cars under consideration.
