Shelby GT350 Won't be Available After 2013

Shelby American has informed that 2013 will be the final year of availability for the Shelby GT350, with the automaker taking fresh orders through December 31, 2013.

Shelby GT350 was first presented in a 2011 model year and was initially provided only in coupe version, painted white with blue stripes. The next year, 3 more colors were added to production in addition to a convertible version. For the 2013 model year, Shelby further broadened color variants for the GT350, equipment choices, and provided the enhanced fresh styling modifications.

Applying a Ford Mustang GT as its base, the Shelby GT350 is powered by 430 horsepower in naturally-aspirated form and 525 or 624 horsepower in supercharged version. An automatic transmission is only offered with the naturally-aspirated form.

The cost for the Shelby GT350 package begins at $26,995 for the naturally-aspirated version and $33,995 for the supercharged variant. That pricing doesn’t feature the base price of the Mustang GT.

“The Shelby GT350 is one of the global most celebrated, legendary muscle vehicles,” told John Luft, chief of Shelby American. “When we unleashed this newest variant of the Shelby GT350, we promised it would be constructed for a limited time to preserve its collectability and value. So we’ve been waiting this day since 2010. In true Carroll Shelby style, we’re planning our next ultimate performance Shelby version.”
