Fiat Planning to Move Assembly out of Italy

Sergio Marchionne already informed that he’s planning to move Fiat’s corporate headquarters to the U.S., so Alfa Romeo’s production would be replaced also.

During the recent years, Marchionne has showed his dislike for conducting business in Italy clear, always telling about high taxes and barriers. With Alfa Romeo releasing in the U.S. by 2015, it’s a possibility Marchionne would move assembly of those vehicles to America.

Marchionne is doing his best to unite Fiat and Chrysler, and has made it clear that once the merger is complete he plans on shifting from the Italian stock market to the New York Stock Exchange. Nowadays, the CEO went on the record that Fiat “needs clear and reliable rules” before it is willing to invest more money into Italy and is putting further investments on hold.

Fiat and Chrysler have been increasing production outside of Europe as the combined autobrands work on expanding worldwide production. Alfa Romeo could be the next brand on the list of automakers to make the shift, especially if more Chrysler vehicles share Alfa Romeo platforms.
