Sport Mode was added to the Ford F-150

Ford has stated that it is going to bring a Sport Mode for the F-150 originated from the latest Mustang.

The Sport Mode can be obtained with the 6-speed automatic gearbox. It can be switched on by pressing the tow/haul knob two times and then an amber “S” will be in the lower-right area of the velocity gage. The automaker is sure that this model with Sport Mode will definitely reach “the spot of powerband” and will keep the lower gears longer. As a result, the path of motion will be less and the gearbox will keep a specific gear longer automatically. This will enable a more interesting driving.

Besides, the producer assures that this new mode will provide quicker accelerations with less pedal stroke. The result can be compared with an aftermarket change, though, without warranty. What is interesting is that the transmission’s electronics calibration was borrowed from the Mustang. This 6-speed vehicle will match the motor rpm under conditions of downshifts.

The Sport Mode can be obtained as regular equipment with all motors. It can be turned to 4WD high settings, 4WD and 2WD. The company’s transmission calibration engineer says that it will keep the engine working in the desired power and torque numbers. Therefore, the owner will always benefit from the force of the engine.

Clients who want a sporty F-150 must wait for the Raptor variant. It is scheduled to be launched for sale in autumn of the next year. This model will be equipped with a 3.5-litre six-cylinder EcoBoost engine. The engine will be able to generate more than 411 hp (or 306 kW) and torque of 434 lb-ft (or 587 Nm). The power will be sent with the help of a 10-speed automatic gearbox to an innovated 4WD system with a torque-on-demand transfer case.
