Hybrid F-Series Truck from Ford

Ford CEO has stated about the company’s intentions to launch an F-Series hybrid truck.

In his conversation with NPR, the CEO says that the automaker is developing the model. According to him, it will be launched by the end of this decade. Fields was rather coy on details. However, he confirmed that it will be sooner a conventional than a plug-in hybrid. Ford’s CEO revealed that the offering will be rear-wheel drive. We wonder if a 4-wheel drive set-up will be optional.

It is unclear which engine will be mated with the hybrid system. The most economical option of the F-150 is the 2.7-litre EcoBoost six-cylinder. It makes the model able to return 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway. When combined, it returns 22 mpg.

Fields also noticed that low petrol prices are making EVs and hybrid offerings less attractive to the customers since they are not considered to be a perfect financial solution at the moment. According to him, the producer is aware of oil being a nonrenewable resource. Higher levels of electrification will be needed in the future for both meeting the demands of their customers and meeting the regulations.
