The Volvo C30 3-door hatchback debuted at the 2006 Paris Motor Show on the Ford C1 / Volvo P1 platform. Produced as a 3-door hatchback, its iconic rear styling drew inspiration from the historical 480 and 1800 ES models, featuring an all-glass frameless tailgate and four individual bucket seats.
Engines ranged from 1.6, 1.8, 2.0 four-cylinders to 2.4 and 2.5 T5 five-cylinder petrol units (up to 230 hp), alongside 1.6D, 2.0D, and 2.4 D5 diesels. A limited-production C30 Electric EV was also deployed. A 2009 front-end redesign aligned it with XC60 styling before production ended in 2013.
