The first-generation Volkswagen T-Cross subcompact crossover with body code C11 debuted in October 2018 as the entry-level SUV in Volkswagen's global lineup. Built upon the modular MQB A0 platform shared with the Polo, the T-Cross combines compact exterior dimensions with an elevated driving position and a versatile interior featuring a sliding rear bench seat. The exterior design incorporates bold horizontal character lines, a prominent front grille, and a distinctive full-width rear light bar connecting the taillights.

Engine offerings for the T-Cross include 1.0-liter TSI three-cylinder turbocharged gasoline engines in various output levels, a 1.5-liter TSI four-cylinder engine, and a 1.6-liter TDI turbodiesel for select markets. Power is delivered exclusively to the front wheels via five-speed or six-speed manual transmissions or a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch gearbox. In 2023, Volkswagen introduced a mid-cycle update featuring higher-quality interior materials, redesigned bumpers, available IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, and updated digital cockpit displays.
