The Rolls-Royce Cullinan represents the British marque's first foray into the luxury SUV sector, creating an entirely bespoke segment of high-riding ultra-luxury transport. Built on the brand's proprietary all-aluminium spaceframe chassis dubbed the Architecture of Luxury, the Cullinan shares its engineering underpinnings with the flagship Phantom VIII. The exterior design incorporates an imposing three-box SUV silhouette featuring rear-hinged coach doors and a split-tailgate mechanism known as The Clasp with an optional deployable viewing suite. Power is supplied by a 6.75-litre twin-turbocharged V12 petrol engine developing 571 horsepower in standard specification and 600 horsepower in the performance-focused Black Badge variant. Power is transferred through an eight-speed ZF automatic gearbox that utilizes satellite navigation data to pre-select gears according to road topography. The chassis is equipped with full-time four-wheel drive, four-wheel steering, and an advanced self-levelling air suspension system known as the Magic Carpet Ride, capable of actively adjusting damping based on real-time road scanning cameras. In 2024, Rolls-Royce revealed the extensive Series II mid-cycle facelift featuring redesigned front bumper aerodynamics, new illuminated grille styling, continuous glass dashboard surfacing, and upgraded connectivity features. The vehicle is distributed worldwide across North America, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
