The Mercedes-Benz EQS (chassis code V297) debuted in April 2021 as the electric counterpart to the flagship S-Class. It was the first production model constructed on Mercedes' bespoke EVA modular EV platform. Its streamlined 'One-Bow' coupe-like design established a world record drag coefficient of Cd 0.20 for production cars.

Inside, the cabin introduced the optional MBUX Hyperscreen, a continuous 56-inch curved glass panel housing three displays under AI control. Powertrain offerings range from the single-motor RWD EQS 450+ to dual-motor 4MATIC variants (EQS 450, EQS 500, EQS 580) and the AMG EQS 53 4MATIC+ offering up to 761 hp. Battery capacities of 107.8 kWh to 118 kWh deliver driving ranges of up to 780 km. A 2024 update re-introduced the traditional Mercedes chrome standing star on the hood.
