Maserati Coupe I (M138) gallery (2001–2007)

The Maserati Coupe (internal platform code M138) debuted in late 2001 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, marking the official return of the Trident marque to the United States market. Built on an updated evolution of the 3200 GT architecture, the Coupe replaced the twin-turbocharged unit of its predecessor with an all-new 4.2-liter naturally aspirated dry-sump V8 engine (F136 R) co-developed with Ferrari, delivering 390 hp. Power was directed to the rear wheels via a rear-mounted transaxle layout, offering either a 6-speed manual gearbox or an electrohydraulic automated manual transmission dubbed Cambiocorsa. Visually, the model retained Giugiaro's elegant silhouette but replaced the distinctive boomerang taillights with conventional units to comply with US safety regulations. In 2004, Maserati introduced the performance-oriented GranSport variant, which featured an upgraded 400 hp engine, aggressive aerodynamic enhancements, a retuned Skyhook adaptive damping suspension system, and revised interior trim. The Coupe was sold globally across Europe, North America, the Middle East, and Asia until production ceased in 2007.
