The first and only generation of the Lincoln MKS (internal program code D385) was manufactured from 2008 to 2016 at Ford's Chicago Assembly Plant. Developed on the full-size front-wheel-drive/all-wheel-drive Ford D3 platform, the MKS shared its foundational engineering with the Ford Taurus. The powertrain lineup was exclusively composed of naturally aspirated and twin-turbocharged V6 gasoline engines. The standard offering was a 3.7-liter Cyclone V6 producing between 273 and 305 horsepower, while the performance-oriented variant featured the 3.5-liter twin-turbocharged EcoBoost V6 delivering 355 to 365 horsepower. Both engines were paired exclusively with a six-speed 6F50 or heavy-duty 6F55 SelectShift automatic transmission. For the 2013 model year, Lincoln introduced a significant mid-cycle refresh featuring a new split-wing front grille, redesigned adaptive HID headlights, revised rear styling, active noise cancellation, and the continuously controlled damping suspension system known as Lincoln Drive Control. Inside, it received the MyLincoln Touch interface and premium THX II certified audio. The vehicle was primarily marketed across North America and select Middle Eastern countries until it was phased out in 2016 to make way for the revived Continental flagship.
