The Lincoln MKC was unveiled in production form in late 2013 and went on sale in mid-2014 for the 2015 model year, representing Lincoln's first entry into the rapidly expanding compact premium crossover segment. Built on the Ford Global C platform shared with the Ford Escape, the MKC featured a wider track, tailored suspension tuning with standard Continuously Controlled Damping (CCD), active noise control, and distinctive styling defined by a unique full-width clamshell rear liftgate. Inside, it boasted push-button transmission controls and high-grade Bridge of Weir leather. The MKC was powered exclusively by turbocharged EcoBoost inline-four engines: a standard 2.0-liter unit producing 240 hp and an optional 2.3-liter engine generating 285 hp. Both engines were coupled to a six-speed SelectShift automatic transmission; front-wheel drive was standard on the 2.0-liter, while intelligent all-wheel drive was optional on the 2.0-liter and standard on the 2.3-liter. For the 2019 model year, the MKC received a refreshed front fascia adopting Lincoln's signature rectangular chrome mesh grille. The model was produced in Louisville, Kentucky, and sold in North America and China until late 2019, when it was succeeded by the Lincoln Corsair.
