The second generation of the Lancia Thema was introduced in 2011 following the integration of the Chrysler Group into Fiat S.p.A., essentially serving as a rebadged and re-engineered version of the second-generation Chrysler 300 for European customers. Constructed on the rear-wheel-drive Chrysler LD platform, it was offered exclusively as a large four-door executive saloon. Compared to the classic front-wheel-drive first-generation Thema, this iteration was significantly larger and embraced a traditional longitudinal rear-wheel-drive architecture. Powertrain choices included a 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 petrol engine producing 286 hp mated to a modern ZF eight-speed automatic transmission, alongside a 3.0-litre VM Motori V6 turbo-diesel offered in 190 hp and 239 hp configurations paired with a five-speed automatic. Lancia engineers retuned the suspension and power steering to deliver more dynamic European handling and fitted a plush cabin with bespoke Poltrona Frau leather upholstery. Sold across continental European markets until 2014, the model was discontinued as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles phased out Lancia sales outside Italy.
