The Lancia Musa was produced from 2004 to 2012 at the Mirafiori plant in Turin as a subcompact luxury multi-purpose vehicle based on the Fiat Project 188 platform shared with the Fiat Idea. Designed by the Centro Stile Lancia, it featured distinctive exterior styling with chrome accents and a sophisticated passenger cabin that offered optional Poltrona Frau leather, Alcantara upholstery, and a large Skydome panoramic sunroof. The powertrain lineup featured 1.4-liter Fire four-cylinder gasoline engines (8-valve with 77 hp and 16-valve with 95 hp), alongside economical 1.3-liter Multijet turbodiesels (70 hp, 90 hp, and 95 hp), a 1.9-liter Multijet with 100 hp, and later a 1.6-liter Multijet delivering 120 hp. Bifuel Ecochic versions running on LPG and gasoline were also offered. Transmissions included five- and six-speed manuals as well as the DFN (Dolce Far Niente) five-speed automated manual. A comprehensive facelift was introduced at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, bringing a revised front grille with the updated Lancia shield emblem, restyled chrome bumper trim, new LED tail lamps, a lowered luggage floor increasing trunk volume by 70 liters, and the Blue and Me connectivity system. It remained a strong seller across Southern Europe until 2012.
