Isuzu Axiom I gallery (2001–2004)

The Isuzu Axiom mid-size SUV was produced in the US and shared its platform with the Isuzu Rodeo.

The Isuzu Axiom mid-size SUV was manufactured in the United States at the Subaru Isuzu Automotive plant from 2001 to 2004, serving as the brand's flagship vehicle in the North American market. The vehicle featured a striking, futuristic exterior design characterized by slim headlights and a distinctive grille. Underneath, it utilized a body-on-frame platform derived from the Isuzu Rodeo, though it offered enhanced equipment levels and advanced electronic systems for its era. Powering the Axiom was a single 3.5-liter V6 gasoline engine, available with or without direct injection (GDI), producing between 230 and 250 horsepower. It was paired with a 4-speed automatic transmission supplied by General Motors or Aisin. The SUV was offered in both rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations featuring the electronically controlled Torque-on-Demand system. Higher trim levels also benefited from an adaptive suspension system called Intelligent Suspension Control with adjustable damper firmness. Despite these technical innovations, the model faced sluggish sales due to stiff competition from unibody crossovers and unique styling that polarized buyers, leading to its discontinuation in 2004. Primary target markets included the United States, Canada, and Costa Rica.
