The full-size frame-based Isuzu Ascender SUV was produced from 2002 to 2008 as a result of close cooperation with General Motors for the North American market, functioning as a badge-engineered sibling to the Chevrolet TrailBlazer. The vehicle was offered in two wheelbase configurations: a standard 5-passenger version (GMT360) and an extended 7-passenger version (GMT370 or EXT). The engine lineup featured reliable gasoline powerplants, including a 4.2-liter inline-six (LL8) and powerful 5.3-liter V8 engines (LM4 and LH6), mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission with rear-wheel or four-wheel drive layouts. Over its production run, the SUV received minor trim updates and safety enhancements, such as the standard inclusion of the StabiliTrak stability control system. The vehicle was primarily sold in the US and Canada, and its manufacturing was terminated following Isuzu's complete exit from the North American light vehicle market in mid-2008.
