The first-generation Honda Ridgeline (YK1) debuted in March 2005. It disrupted traditional pickup truck design by utilizing a unibody platform with integrated steel ladder-frame rails and four-wheel independent suspension. Key innovations included a Dual-Action tailgate (hinged bottom and side) and a lockable, watertight In-Bed Trunk.
Powering the Ridgeline was a 3.5-liter V6 engine (247–250 hp) paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission and standard VTM-4 AWD with a manual lock mode. A 2008 facelift restyled the front grille, bumpers, and interior controls.
