The Holden Crewman was introduced in 2003 during the VY Series II update as the first factory four-door dual-cab ute in Holden's history. It was built on a stretched V-body platform featuring a heavy-duty leaf-sprung live rear axle to enhance payload capacity. Powertrains ranged from the 3.8-litre Ecotec V6 and later 3.6-litre Alloytec V6 to 5.7-litre LS1 and 6.0-litre L76 V8 engines. Holden also offered all-wheel-drive variants known as the Cross 6 and Cross 8 equipped with the Cross Trac system. Production of the Crewman concluded in 2007 due to the transition to the all-new VE architecture.
