Unveiled in 2015 as a 2016 model, the second-generation Chevrolet Volt used a reworked Voltec drivetrain with two electric motors instead of one, an 18.4 kWh battery and a new 1.5-litre petrol generator replacing the earlier 1.4. Electric-only range rose to about 85 km and total range to 676 km. The body was lower and more aerodynamic, and the cabin gained a fifth seat. Production ended in February 2019 as GM shifted to the fully electric Bolt.
