The Bentley Bentayga was revealed in late 2015 at the Frankfurt Motor Show as the first production SUV in the marque's history. Based on the Volkswagen Group MLB Evo platform, it incorporated extensive aluminum construction, permanent Torsen all-wheel drive, and a 48-volt active roll control system. It originally launched with a 6.0-liter twin-turbo W12 TSI engine generating 608 horsepower paired with an eight-speed ZF automatic transmission. In 2017, Bentley introduced its first-ever diesel engine, a 4.0-liter triple-charged V8 with 435 horsepower, followed by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo petrol V8 and a plug-in hybrid V6 PHEV in 2018. A comprehensive mid-cycle refresh in 2020 aligned its design language with the Continental GT, introducing oval taillights and an updated infotainment system. In 2022, the lineup was expanded with the long-wheelbase Bentayga EWB variant featuring luxurious Airline Seats.
