Unveiled in 2012, the third-generation Audi A3 (8V) had the honor of being the very first model built on the Volkswagen Group's flexible MQB architecture. Incorporating Audi ultra lightweight construction techniques, the 8V shed up to 80 kg compared to its predecessor. Crucially, this generation introduced a handsome notchback Sedan for the first time, expanding a family that included the traditional three-door hatchback, five-door Sportback, and Cabriolet.

Powertrains on the 8V featured TFSI turbocharged engines from 1.0 to 2.0 liters, ultra-clean TDI diesels, the e-tron plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and a compressed natural gas g-tron variant. Inside, the cabin showcased premium craftsmanship, a retractable MMI display, and the Audi virtual cockpit digital instrument cluster. The 8V generation achieved global critical acclaim, winning the World Car of the Year title in 2014. The model fully reflected the premium status of the automaker and its commitment to technological leadership in its class.
