Introduced in 2012 for the 2013 model year, the Acura ILX (DE1-DE3 chassis) served as Acura's entry-level sedan, sharing underlying architecture with the ninth-generation Honda Civic while introducing bespoke exterior paneling and Amplitude Reactive Dampers. Initial powertrains included a 2.0-liter R20A5 engine (150 hp), a 2.4-liter K24Z7 engine (201 hp) paired exclusively with a 6-speed manual transmission, and an ILX Hybrid variant featuring a 1.5-liter IMA setup. A major update for 2016 streamlined the lineup to a single 2.4-liter K24V7 engine producing 201 horsepower paired with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission featuring a torque converter. It also added Jewel Eye LED lighting and an available A-Spec appearance trim. A second comprehensive refresh for 2019 brought Acura's signature Diamond Pentagon grille, restyled rear decklid and taillights, and updated infotainment compatibility. A comprehensive list of standard features combined with proven powertrain durability helped secure a strong market presence in its segment.
