Resignation of Martin Winterkorn, the CEO of Volkswagen

According to a yesterday’s report, Martin Winterkorn, the CEO at VW Group, has made up his mind and laid down the duties of office.

This happened after the great scandal connected with 11 million vehicles that were fitted with a special device. This device helped cheat while undergoing emissions tests.

After several hours the CEO made an official statement. He said that the responsibility for the irregularities was accepted by him as CEO. Then he asked the Supervisory Board to terminate his function as CEO of the VW Group. According to Winterkorn, this move was done in order to meet the brand’s interests. Martin also stated that he is not aware of any wrong things done by him.

The CEO is greatly surprised that such a huge misconduct could have occurred in the VW Group. He notices that VAG needs to start everything once again, especially in terms of personnel. Winterkorn has always been led by his wish to do something for the automaker, employees and clients. He admits that the company has always been, is and will be in his life. Besides, he wants to continue the process of transparency and clarification. On his mind, this is the only way for the brand to win trust back. The CEO is sure that the VW Group and its qualified team will be able to outbrave this complicated situation.

A meeting of the Supervisory Board is scheduled for Friday. Recommendations for a successor will be given. By the way, Winterkorn was the highest paid director of an organization in the whole Germany. If the scandal did nit outbreak, he would have got a 3-year contract renewal this week.
