Toyota wants to develop More Hydrogen Fuel Cell Cars

The Toyota Mirai could develop a range of hydrogen fuel cell cars for the Japanese producer.

At least the main engineer for the Toyota Mirai hopes this will happen. Yoshikazu Tanaka is sure that in 10-20 years hydrogen fuel cell vehicles will be not less needed as hybrid vehicles are needed nowadays. With the lapse of time he wants to see the Mirai “procreate” with the automaker developing new offerings with hydrogen fuel cell technology. Tanaka did not specify any possible models. Though, according to an insider, the company considers a hatchback, SUV, wagon and multi-purpose car.

As you know, the Toyota Mirai is in its early market stages. Though, hydrogen fuel cell technology is rapidly growing. According to Tanaka, back in 2008 a fuel cell weighed 238 pounds and was able to generate 121 hp. Now it weighs only 123 lbs and produces 153 hp! The engineer admits that having a truly clean source of producing hydrogen for every fuel cell vehicle is miles and miles away.

Berlin, Japan, California and London are slowly assembling hydrogen structures. The rapidness of this process will determine the rapidness of adopting the technology under consideration.
