2018 Toyota C-HR caught in the U.S. guise

Paparazzi caught an undisguised prototype of the 2018 C-HR US Spec from Toyota.

The automaker presented the finished C-HR in specification for Europe in March. This happened at the Motor Show in Geneva. The subcompact crossover is preparing to visit the U.S. It will be marketed there since next spring as a 2018 model year. It was expected to receive the Scion badge, but it got the logo with the 3 overlapping ellipses. The automaker says that “scionara” is youth-oriented.

The car will be almost the same inside and outside. Europeans have two engine options: a 1.2-litre turbocharged unit that produces 115 hp and a hybridized one with the engine displacement of 1.8. The last one produces 122 hp. In some countries (including the U.K.), the company will market the C-HR with a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated motor.

The model for America will probably gain a 2.0-litre naturally-aspirated unit. It will be joined to a continuously variable transmission. Power will be sent to the front axle, as usually. Customers will be also able to choose a 4-wheel drive arrangement for some extra money.

The Euro-spec C-HR is being gathered together in Turkey. However, we do not know if the same factory will assemble the North American version.
