1977 Lotus Esprit Codename: 007 Submarine Coming to RM Auctions

As if a regular Lotus Esprit crossing the auction stage isn’t so extraordinary, this one is definitely unique after taking part in the James Bond 007 movie The Spy Who Loved Me.

But it’s not the fact that it starred in the film that makes it one-of-a-kind, but rather it’s a Lotus Esprit submarine constructed by Perry Submarines. 4 electric submersible drive units were placed to the Esprit’s retractable rear tray, each one with steering vanes in the propeller stream.

This very Lotus Esprit submarine has been kept indoors until now, only being presented occasionally at a few events since 1989. It will be going to the RM Auctions in London in September openly.
