Ignition Switch Misfortune of Chrysler to Hit 700,000 Cars

Four thousand cars more will turn an ignition-related recall of Chrysler into a monstrous 700,000-unit trouble.

The problem has been dealt with for more than 3 years now encompassing Chrysler Town and two Dodge models. However, this time the defect has been found in minivans and crossovers of fresher model years.

In June the profile traffic safety administration of the USA was busy gathering facts about further recall expansion. It was connected with 23 new complaints from the drivers who informed about malfunctioning ignition switch causing certain alternations to the work of a number of cars’ systems.

In more exact terms, the defect stemmed from the switch spring calibrated too tensely. It caused a breakdown in the key positioning potentially leading to situations when “accessory” mode was turned on without the knowledge of the driver blocking both the engine and air bags.

The brand offers to solve the problem through installation of wireless ignition node. Affected cars are scattered all over the North American continent with the majority settling in the USA. Free repair will have to be conducted for almost 43 thousand cars from other parts of the world.
