Chevrolet Bolt will leave its Name for Production Variant

The marketing director of Chevrolet, Tim Mahoney, has told about the production variant of the Bolt concept which will remain with the same name.

The Bolt concept from Chevrolet was revealed in January at Detroit’s NAIAS. The concept will be transformed into a production variant which is going to retain the identical moniker, nevertheless, there were some gossips about the name change. They probably appeared because of the similar issues with “Volt”. Tim Mahoney says in the interview with USA TODAY that such a potential confusion between the nameplates can become convenient for the automaker. The chief considers that people will associate Bolt with Chevrolet at once since everybody knows that the Volt is a product of Chevrolet.

Moreover, the company runs two studies. They are asking potential customers if the Bolt name should remain. Both of the studies assured that the designation should be preserved for the production variant. The vehicle will probably be launched for the 2017 MY. Its starting price will be nearly $30,000. The car will be a completely electric and city-oriented. Its top range will be 200 miles (or 322 km). The hardware setup will receive power from the 2nd-generation Volt in combination with some things from the Spark EV.

According to the last rumour, the Bolt will be launched for production in October of the next year at the Orion Township plant in Michigan.
