The British sport car maker has reported that it is remove its chassis production from Austria and will launch a new Composites Technology Center in Sheffield, U.K., not far from the campus of the Advanced Manufacturing Research Center (AMRC) at the University of Sheffield.

Building of the facilities is about to start in the second half of 2017 and full manufacture is expected to begin in 2020. It will be the first purpose-made spot away from McLaren Woking headquarters and will create more than two hundred working places in the U.K on the area of 7000 m2 (75,347 ft2).

The Center’s will be responsible for elaborating and producing of the Monocell and Monocage carbon fiber undercarriage for the future McLaren products. The total contribution into the new site will be around £50 million ($62 million), yet the facility, once functional and working, will save McLaren nearly £10 million ($12 million) yearly and manufacture £100 million ($125 million) worth of gross value added to the U.K. economy till 2028.
