Discontinuation of McLaren 12C
The production of MP4-12C will stop as McLaren stakes on 650S.
Current owners of the car have been informed about the unfortunate decision. The company explained that the sports car niche will be filled by 650S. Previous announcements indicated that the brand would temporarily stop manufacturing 12C cars to maximize the 650S assembly line capacities, but now the measure is positively permanent.
Nevertheless, it does not mean that the customers which in their time opted for 12C will be discarded. A new upgrade is coming up for them free of charge. Namely, 12C will receive the latest brand’s software as an addition to the current Airbrake aimed at choosing the optimal driving variants when starting or driving up the hill. The upgrade package also foresees throwing in an advanced high-functioning infotainment working on Android.
What concerns more recent technological developments, 12C owners will have access to them for a special price. They include a camera shooting the rear view and a digital radio. Price of such 650S features is still undisclosed, so current owners should get more information from their dealers.
Meanwhile, the current model keeps getting more and more appeal affecting the production plans of the British carmaker. McLaren will be working to the full capacity during the next half a year to cover the demand for 650S.
