Six-Cylinder from Chrysler Will be equipped with Turbocharging and Direct Injection

Chrysler is going to use direct injection and turbocharging to its range of Pentastar six-cylinder powertrains for enhancing the output and increasing economy of the carburant.

The automaker decided that the 3.6-litre six-cylinder powertrains will be used in the Jeep Grand Cherokee of 2015 in order to meet strict corporate requirements connected with economy of the fuel, a report in Automotive News says. According to the report, the innovated models of 2016 Chrysler Country and Country minivans will be equipped with a 3.2-litre six-cylinder sonner than the current 3.6-litre powertrain.

If to believe this report, the automaker might add turbocharging to its six-cylinder range which is naturally aspirated now. The minivan of the next generation will be equipped with a tinier six-cylinder together with an innovated automatic gear box of nine speeds. This combination is currently used by some vehicles of the company’s crossover. It is expected to help the vans to decrease fuel consumption by 25% over the current 17 MPG in the city and 25 MPG on the highway.
